I love to feature artists and thanks to art communities on the internet, it’s easier than ever to discover new painters and illustrators and follow their progress. A few months ago, I shared with you the work of 5 digital artists I greatly admire. Here are five more whose works I would like to share with you, art geniuses that will I hope inspire you as much as they inspire me:
Jana Schirmer – Online portfolio
Jana Schirmer is a digital painter located in Berlin, Germany. She is part of the SixMoreVodka studio and produces detailed digital paintings of characters, scenes and creatures of all sorts. Her art shows advanced knowledge and lights and shadows; using contrast, she is able to create stunning dramatic paintings.
Matt Rhodes – Online portfolio
Matt Rhodes is a Canadian digital artist whose goal as a creator is “communicating real emotion and telling compelling stories“; and he is extremely skilled at doing that. His illustrations are very dynamic and his characters are so well-drawn and expressive no word is needed to understand they each have distinct life-stories and personalities.
Christian Nauck – Online portfolio
Christian Nauck is a freelance illustrator based in Berlin, Germany, where he draws for companies such as Ubisoft and Marvel. His style is rough but evocative, colourful and very dynamic. There is also a touch of humour in his art.
Jeff Simpson – Online portfolio
Jeff Simpson is a Canadian digital artist based in Montreal. His artworks are very dark and strange. They are all however extremely well painted and display a special attention for detail, lights and shadows. Beauty and creepiness clash in his illustrations, mesmerizing the watcher who then asks for more.
Alex Garner – Online portfolio
Alex Garner is an American digital artist who resides in San Diego. One look at his skilful illustrations is enough to understand why companies such as Blizzard, Hasbro, Marvel and DC Comics are part of his clientele. His art is highly saturated, textured and full of light; a feast for the eyes.
